Eminem Has Made Hip Hop History

July 29th, 2010 by Tyrone Williams

Underestimated from day one, now Eminem is the most favorite among young people around the world. Hands down, Eminem is by far the most successful rapper around and has surpassed acts like Tupac Shakur and Biggie in sales. It’s safe to say that Eminem is the world’s biggest selling hip hop act of all time. Who would have thought that a poor little ‘white boy’ will once reign the hip hop and urban music charts and break cd selling records like no other.

Eminem was always into hip hop music. He grew up on old school hip hop and rap such as the likes of RUN DMC, Public Enemy and was naturally inspired by urban music. Eminem totally took hip hop to heart, which was clearly his passion. By writing rap lyrics at an early age and rapping with his friends or what not, Eminem has truly created an empire.

What really made Eminem famous was, the song produced by hip hop legend Dr.Dre called ‘High my name is’. The humorous angle that Eminem uses in his raps has won millions of fans around the world. However, their are a lot of dark tracks just as ‘Stan’ that have created equal amount of controversy throughout his career.

What You Have to Do to Get a Record Deal

July 26th, 2010 by DJ Tony

The holy grail of many an artist’s aspirations is getting a record deal.  While there is much to say about being careful to get your contract checked out before you sign how do you actually go about getting labels interested in you?

No one just gives away record deals, actually, a solid one is really difficult to come by, and you have to put in your own time  (self-promotion, publicity) before they even find you worthy enough for them to invest in you.

1.Record your demo. If at all possible, have it look professional on a CD or even included in an EPK. If using a CD make copies of your demo and have at least 5-10 extra ones for yourself, friends, or just in case.

    2. Find out to whom (a name of a person) you should send your demo. Don’t send it to the name of the company, as it might end up in the wrong hands or simply passed around from office to office. It is always best to have a contact who you can follow up with.

    3. Put your best tracks first. If your worst track is first on the CD then there is every chance that those listening to it won’t give you a second look.
Be relentless. Don’t just send it to them and wait, call them up and ask the specific person you sent your demo to how he/she liked it – this is equally important whether you sent a CD or an electronic press kit.

    4. Be professional. You’ll be seen as a mature individual.

    5. Don’t use an overblown name to represent yourself. Make sure your alias, if you choose to use one, is something that suits you and something that you can represent. For example, if you’re from Beverly Hills dont use the moniker ‘Ghetto Child.’ Keep it real and you will get respect.

    6. Have some indifferent consumers listen to your songs to get a true assessment of the quality of your music before you send them off – make sure you are giving yourself the best chance to make an impact. You only have one chance to make a first impression.

    7. Try to do some research in advance to insure that the record labels and A&R’s you are trying to work with are actively looking to promote the specific style of music you create. This can help save everyone involved a lot of time in the long run afterall there is no point sending a heavy metal track to a Classical music label!

Why You Need To Hire Band For Your Event

July 25th, 2010 by DJ Tony

When you hire band to play at your live event, to put on a show in a bar, at a party, at a coffee shop, at the company picnic, wherever you would want them to play, the one thing you can be sure of is guaranteed attendance. Where there is music, there will always be people. This is something of a proven scientific formula.

Now obviously, it helps to get the best band you can find to come throw down some Rock and Roll for the people, but the truth is, people will come to see a band that’s not even all that great because, what the heck, it’s entertainment, so a GOOD band is icing on the cake.
